Aspettami (Wait for me) – Original watercolor on paper

She came out like this. I wasn’t expecting her.

I had planned a different face — a quieter one, eyes calm, hands down. But somewhere between the first wash and the fourth layer she decided otherwise. The pink hair arrived without asking. The hand went up to cover one eye, as if she’d seen enough already.

Sometimes paintings paint themselves around you, while you stand there trying to take credit.

Her name came later: Aspettami — “Wait for me.” Now she’s looking for a wall to rest on, and someone willing to wait one more minute.
